HD Install :: .7.2 HD Install Issue
Has anyone else had trouble installing .7.2 on a hard drive? I cannot get it to install. If I run the dsl-hdinstall script I get "sorry system has not detected a linux partition". I know that the partition is Linux because I install all of my linux distros there to test. I even did a mke2fs /dev/hda8 on the partition. If I go back to .7.1 it will install.
Thanks
Chris
Add me to the list. Cannot install to hard drive of Thinkpad 600 after hours of reconfiguring partition table with both cfdisk and fdisk. Mkliloboot finds "an inconsistent partiton table" even though the sectors look perfect when viewed. Have tried 1, 2, and 3 partitions using instructions and tips from this forum. Nothing works. A single bootable Linux partition; a bootable Linux partition and a swap partition; a fat32 partition, a bootable Linux partition, and a swap partition; a bootable Linux partion, a swap partition, and a fat32 partition. Nada.
Otherwise, this seems like a great distro so far. Any ideas? Thanks.
Does 0.7.1 work?
Or do both versions fail?
I used 7.2. Thanks.
Another on the list -
System = Sony laptop, P-II 300MHz, 64MB RAM, 4GB HD, PCMCIA modem and NIC.
v7.1 installed fine, then I saw you had a v7.2 - d/led and ran -runs fine, tried install - no go, rebooted and ran a runlevel 2 and tried from there - still no go, realized I had been using the following startup command:
dsl dma xvesa enhance
so re-ran cfdisk, removed all partitions, recreated one for / one for swap, rebooted with no commands - same result - v7.2 will not install:
"Sorry system has not detected a Linux partition."
