HD Install :: HD install degenerating...
When I first installed DSL on my hard drive, everything was working fine. I installed the non-uci Firefox extension with MyDSL Click and Load.
However, later on, my Firefox was unable to start up. The files are there in opt/firefox, but it doesn't seem to start up... the CPU usage seems to go up to 50%, and then it comes back down to 0% without loading Firefox.
Now, when I opened the MyDSL Click and Load, under "Programs Available", all the programs disappeared.
There are two lines of /icons/unknown.gif" ALT="[ ]"> with the "Get it" button beside it, but that's all.

I'm having this same problem. Maybe we can figure it out. Where do you save your MyDSL stuff? A seperate partition? Is it listed under the MyDSL menu as an optional extension? Did you add anything to filetool.lst?

I used the Click and Load GUI, so the MyDSL stuff was saved in /opt. The only thing I added to filetool.lst was /opt/firefox, I think.
Now when I go to MyDSL Click and Load GUI, it says, "Sorry, but I can't connect to the repository right now."
I do it this way:
Me the root opens xterminal -> sudo emelfm -> copy .dsl-files into /opt -> mark the .dsl -> click "Mydsl-button".
This topic is covered in the DSL FAQ. The DSL FAQ is maintained by fellow DSL users and we add stuff all the time so it is usualy a good idea to look their before asking questions. The UCI's are compressed images. They are not installed like the other MyDSL files, they are mounted. This means that you have to remount them everytime they are unmounted to use them again (like when you reboot). You might consider putting in mydsl-load /tmp/firefox.uci (or where ever you keep your mydsl downloads) in .xinitrc (which is in your home directory).
Thanks,
~Me
