myDSL Extensions (deprecated) :: deb software packages
where can i find a list of software which has links to download the debian version of it. and the makers homepage.
i wanted to try out making some dsl files. but i have no idea what i want to do. no experience. and no idea where i would download the damn things >.<
then theres apt-get but that doesnt give a list of software does it? >.<
Go to http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages and drill down on stable, testing or unstable and look at a package group for something that might interest you, such as electronics, then pick a prog, then click the button for architecture (i.e. i386). Then you have to pick a download mirror and "You've got Deb." Or if there is a program that you have found that interests you on sourceforge.net or freshmeat.net you might try that.
or go to apt-get.org and search there then add to your apt.sources list and point apt at it........easy peasy
gosh look at all those dependencies.
and and does this page http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/packages.html
lists what DSL already has?
that's where the beauty is in apt it will tell you what else you need, or if you enable synaptic you have a graphical front end for it if there are lots of dependancies then you may need to experiment with the sources list to locate them all.....
