Other Help Topics :: Failed to boot
Sorry if this is in the wrong section but.
I was using DSL yesterday (using a boot floppy) and it was working like it usually does.
Today I woke up and booted it up to be horrified by the message when it booted from the floppy
Debain (2.01 or something)
5 seconds later
Debain (2.01 or something) Failed to boot.
I have tried making another boot floppy and it does the same thing and I don't think its my CD because when the floppy boots to the error thing the CD light does not flash.
Try to create a DSL boot floppy in another floppy disk
"Failed Boot" on 2 new floppys.
any ideas?
Idea:
Assuming the computer have Windows installed you can do this:
1. Extract from the dsl-x.x.iso image file the folder KNOPPIX to the hard disk. Then you will have the C:\KNOPPIX folder and inside the C:\KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX file.
NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS FOR THE DIR NAME AND FILE NAME
2. Reboot the computer using the DSL boot floppy.
That launch DSL using the file onto hard disk as well as DSL boot from CDROM. Therefore, DSL was not installed to hard disk but will run "live mode" from RAM memory.
I know thats the poor-man boot or something but I don't have windows.
