User Feedback :: make a boot floppy with raw dsl 0.80

if i understand right you have 3 hardware options

1. hd and floppy and NO cd
or
2. hd and cd and NO floppy
or do you have
3. hd and cd in laptop and throuh extra port the floppy

case 3:
there should be no problem.
if there is a problem then do same as case 2

case 1.
remove the floppy-drive insert the cdrom-drive
then same as case 2

case 2.
copy the KNOPPIX directory to the root of your windows C: drive
remove the cdrom-drive insert the floppy-drive
boot from floppy.
at the boot: prompt type:
dsl fromhd=/dev/hda1

hello

ok i have success to install damn 0.8.0  on my old laptop but the screen is very bad i can work because, it's blue and i dont see anything  i have video magic card inside.???

boot up with the "dsl xsetup" and choose the xfbserv for framebuffer mode.  I have to  do this on laptops.  There is probably another boot option, but I always use this one.
Any more details on graphics card or chip?
If you mean 'Neomagic' card like my old laptop, you may have same video problems I had.  My Neomagic card 128v from 1995 Digital Hinote works beautifully with 'fb800x600' added to boot prompt on first live boot, then selection of framebuffer graphics server (not SVGA).  It is the only way I managed to get this display to work.  This configuration is memorised by the HD install process so it automatically boots into correct display mode without any more boot prompt lines.
