Multimedia :: XMMS and wav

Is XMMS supposed to handle *wav format sound files? It plays MP3 fine. I have to use MPlayer to play wav files, which is odd, becasue XMMS opens when I click on wav files.

It just probably doesn't have a .wav decoder plugin... I'm pretty sure you could download one somewhere.

It could be the wavs were created using an uncommon compression method. I've seen some wavs that are actually mp3s with a "wav" file extension, some that are actually wma files, and some that require codecs that are not commonly available.
