HD Install :: Stops at "Processor 0 is Moble Pentium ..."

While attempting to load DSL on Toshiba 330CDT with 3 gig drive, Pentium 266 MMX, and 48 Meg ram, process stops
after -

Running Linux Kernel 2.4.31
Processor 0 is Mobile Pentium MMX 266Mhz

At this point system locks up and must be power cycled. It had W98 but I used Partition Magic and built EXT3 partition and a swap area. Still locks up. HELP!!!!

I had the same problem on a Toshiba Portege 3490CT. My solution was to load the "nopcmcia" option. Ie: "dls nopcmcia".
