HD Install :: im soooo new lol

i dont understand anything! how, where, what? bash? what are all these things? all i want to do is install dsl on the hd of my 460cdt, and i dont have a clue. is there a step by step? how do i partition? everything is sooo vauge on the install instruction pages.
