HD Install :: Install troubles
Hey guys, new DSL user having some trouble with the install.
I'm trying to get DSL installed on my secondaty HDD on a P233 w/ 98MB RAM. The primary drive has WIN 98 on it's massive 2GB capacity and I've got an 8GB secondary drive installed and formatted for Linux. Unfortunately DSL doesn't recognize this drive, I've verified this by running cfdisk. It only sees the 2gig drive w/ Win 98.
I know it's probably something simple and stupid, but I couldn't have figured it out for the life of me. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.
could U take out the unneeded drive and use the one u need for that time. or if u have another computer take out the secondard driev and try it in another computer
u need to buy a 2.5" to 3.5" HDD Adapter Kit inorder to do this. they run about $8-15
What is the linux partion ? ext2, ext3 , ReiserFS
It's an ext2 partition. I actually was thinking about taking out the primary drive to see if a simpler setup would be favorable.
I'm also having a similar problem with another system I'm trying to get Linux running on as well. This time it's the only HDD on the system and /dev/hda can not be found. Just to make sure everything is okay w/ the drive I popped in a Win98 disk and it recognized it just fine, I even let it be formatted and scaned just in case (you know, eBay drive in all). So any ideas why I'm having such bad luck w/ my drives lately???
Thanks again.
