HD Install :: ibm thinkpad 600

i have been struggling with tis for a few days now. any solutions or help in this community?

what is your sound card spec ?
irq, dma setting in bios
please give more details

the TP600 contains a Crystal 4237B chip

however i am rather new to this whole things and am not really sure what do about it. i dont know how to recompile the kernal and all that so i am kinda stuck as far as ALSA goes. and for the OSS well i am currently struggling with that. this site tells you what to do but like i said, i am an early learner.

If you have windblows on this laptop you can get the info on the sound card from the device manager
OR you may be able to get the info from http://ibm.com do a search on your modle and type numbers
I think ibm keeps the specs for there computers on line for 10 years once you know what chip your sound card is built from you can look it up in the kernel source docs
