Well, I thought I could install DSL. But rather than chance it on a computer that isn't technically mine, I thought I'd experiment on my ancient laptop. Good thing, too, cause I have no idea how to do this.
I have the 1.5 DSL CD. I boot up, and I get the opening DSL screen telling me to hit F2 or F3 for boot options. I when I do this, I don't see an option for frugal. On the F3 page, there's the "install" command, which brings me to a black screen where I get about 10 options. One says something like "grub install with frugal" or something like that. I choose that, but after (apparently) blanking my HD I reboot to a grub prompt. I don't really know what to do from there.
So, what I need to know is how do a I do a frugal install? I looked at the wiki, but I didn't see anything. I see a lot of questions here on this forum, but nothing that gives a step by step explanation about how to do a frugal. Maybe I'm just blind...Here ya go: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....wto.pdf
I got to page 3 before hitting a snag. I've set up my HD with hda1 at 98 megs for boot, hda2 with 5+ gigs, and hda3 with 500 megs as swap. But, when I reboot and begin to start the install, I type "/usr/bin/frugal_install.sh" and get an error saying "bash: /usr/bin/frugal.sh: No such file or directory."
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanksmwdowns, if I remember right I believe it is in /usr/sbin not /usr/bin. Try /usr/sbin/frugal_install.sh and see if that works.

Indeed it was /sbin/
Boy do I feel sheepish.
The install went easy as pie after that. Thanks.Next Page...
