HD Install :: Thinkpad HD install almost

I am sure I am not the first to post this sort of thing but I havent found the info so I hope someone wants to have a go.

I am running DSL from a usb drive on a thinkpad 560x I partitioned the drive as instructed from DSL site for debian install but after running install script through to reboot it wont reboot to hard disk I am using a floppy boot loader to boot to usb .I believe i installed dsl too hda2 with a swap file on hda1 now what just wont go. anyone know of a walkthrough or something or maybe that magik trick yoou can give me .
