HD Install :: Help me to restore the LoLO im the MBR...

After running Dualboot w2000 + DSL for a month something
happend to my MBR of the hdd...no more RED Lilo screen visible - just Wind 2000 starts....is it possible to fix that or I must hdd-install the DSL anew ? (no floppy drive) available on my Laptop - just a CD Rom and ohe hdd

Yes you can restore it using your DSL CD. Boot up and mount the partition that DSL resides on, then run lilo to restore the boot loader.

To run LILO - but how exactly ?
Presuming: sudo lilo (enter)
from the command Line ? Will it restore all boot records automatically?

Since you can't boot DSL off your HD without lilo, you will need to either boot off the live CD or floppies, which you have done at least once to do the original install. Once you are in DSL again get a terminal window and type:

sudo -u root mkliloboot

Tell it which partition your DSL install is on and it will reinstall lilo for you. This always worked for me anyway.

run chroot your_partition
and then run lilo -v
and it'll be cool
