HD Install :: root password help

Using adduser to create a new user gives me a name/password that works with ftp.

I've done this:

sudo passwd dsl

then enter a password.

When I ftp to it, i just log in as dsl and use the password i set.

Strange. I tried that earlier (several times), and it didn't work.

It does now...
