HD Install :: HD install with no internet connection.
Hi,
How can I do an enhanced installation without an internet connection?? In DSL 0.7 the script asks if I have an internet
connection and when I say I do, but I haven't, then it suddenly stops working. Which is of course a good thing.
But now my question is: How can I make a enhanced install without the internet connection? (Have a Nforce2 chipset, so I'll have the need for an hdd install to get my eth0 working )
I would like to know how to do this, too.
In my office, I have a cable connection and I can download things pretty fast. But at home I can only use a phone connection, and at 33600 bps, it's kinda slow.
If there is a way we can download the packages needed for the HD installation, burn them on a CD, and then install them using DSL, it could be wonderful. All we need then is a CD-RW and presto!
Please consider this for the next version of DSL, John...
You can already do this. Read "new extensions" thread and see how user "remo" installed extensions to hard drive.
Grab gnu-utils.dsl. That is the "enhanced" part of the hard drive install.
Here is another thread which answers the same question.
