HD Install :: Monkey no Worky
I have one pc with a DSL 1.2.1 HD install (ext3). At first, it would not run monkey and I could not figure out why. Then, I reformatted to ext2 and it worked fine. I figured my computer just didn't like the file system format. Anyway, talking to someone else in the chat room, I've learned that other people are having the same problem. For some reason the monkey daemon will not start with your HD formatted to ext3. Could someone else test this out and tell me if you are having the same problem.
Thanks,
Jesse
I would try manually starting monkey up from inside an xterminal window and see if you get any error messages that could help.
Yes, it has been tried many different ways, including serveral ways from the terminal (monkey from boot, banana start, DSL pannel, from the DSL daemons menu, ect...). The Daemon will not start with ext3 file format in DSL 1.2.1 HD install. I have yet to talk to someone who has accomplished this. Also, if I recall correctly, there are no error messages. It takes you right to the next prompt.
Give it a try and let me know if you can get it to work.

Try editing the "banana" script in the /opt monkey directory and get rid of the "> /dev/null" redirection and then try it again from the command prompt.
Yeah, I might give that a try the next time I reinstall (might be soon). Will that show me the error messages?
