HD Install :: How to bun the iso

so what is the diffrence between "writing the image file" and "burning the image file"?
ok. scratch that last question for now. new problems.

ive got my iso of DSL burnt, tested and it works.
But, because of issues with the CD rom drives in the computer i need it on, i am not able to boot from the CD drive.
*BUT*
i AM able to insert a win start disk and access the CD rom with the drives that it loads.
*so*
is there  a way to run DSL from  DOS?

EDIT: found it. im at work right now and i dont have a floppy, but i will try it soon.
