HD Install :: win32 folder...

if someone were to um accidentally overwrite this folder with a file using mv improperly, would there be a way to replace this folder from the live cd? :)

not that *I* would ever screw up like that... PURELY hypothetical :p

I was not aware that there was a folder called "win32" in DSL.

Where is it?

I assume the... um, theoretical culprit... has accidentally deleted a windows drive?
If so... Nope.  That's why DSL doesn't mount other drives automatically - it's one more step that someone has to go through before they can do said damage.  And hopefully once they figure out mounting, they've realised the unlimited access (read "damage") they can do to mounted drives.

Oh, unless you have a backed up copy of the folder somewhere, in which case you could maybe just mv again.  Otherwise... reinstall time?

i... um... HE must have installed something that added it he probably figured it came with dsl... anyway it kept on freezing up the computer so the guy who may or may not have had this problem just decided to reinstall everything :) thanks

Perhaps you...err..your buddy would like to try a utility cd called Ultimate Boot CD that will allow you...um..him to check the ram/hardware for problems...and also completely (factory default) the harddrive (with 0's) for a fresh OS install
