HD Install :: Saving MyDSL's in CF Frugal install

Hi All !
I have successfully done a frugal install to a 128MB CF card(hda1 60MB for DSL, rest in hda5). I am not able to save my desktop style or any downloaded MyDSL extensions. I tried moving the .dsl from /var/tmp to /cdrom (like I would in a USB install) but, no luck. I have used the 'backup/restore' and that doesn't seem to help. I backed-up to both of the partitions, no go.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
