HD Install :: xterminal window?

i am completly new to Linux.... i got DSL booted from the cd, and now its on the desktop or something like that... theres the DSL logo in the center of the screen with something stuff on the right and bottom of the screen..... now i wanted to install DSL to my hdd..... i was reading the DSL Documentations, and i got to "2.b - Installing DSL to the Hard Disk" and it says to open up the xterminal window......

now how do i open that up or where is it, i tried looking around, but couldnt find it.......

Do you have any icons in the top left of the desktop.  I think the one that's in the extreme top-left is the terminal icon.

If you don't have that try clicking on the desktop (maybe its a right-click, I don't have DSL in front of me at the moment). That should present a menu list. Move the mouse over the entries and see if you can find one for a termnal.  When you get it right you'll have a window open that looks like an old DOS screen, if that helps any...

Good luck

...well idk now, for some reason, i cant boot to DSL with the cd.......

when i turn on the comp, it starts the process of booting DSL, everything goes great until it gets to loading the desktop......  right when it starts loading the desktop, it goes back to the black screen and at the bottom it says:

/home/dsl/.xinitrc line7:   313 Bus error            fluxbox
waiting for X server to shut down
dsl@tty1[dsl]$

......how can i fix this?

well i got it installed now, and it loads successfully, but theres no icons on the desktop....  how would i get the icons on there?
I'd suggest you post some more information about your computer maybe some of the experts on this board can help.

What brand computer or type of CPU, amount of memory,  video card, that kind of stuff.

I assume you are running DSL from a live CD and doing the install from that.  Am I correct?

What file did you download to burn the CD?
