HD Install :: CF disk install on USB, transfering to IDE later

Hi,

I've been trying to install to a CF disk. The problem I have is that I want to use this CF install on a SBC computer that does not have hard drive or cd-rom support. It only has an IDE connection for a CD card. So I've been trying to install to a usb reader on my normal PC and then transfering the card to the SBC and trying to boot up. I haven't had much luck. I've gotten no operating system found, a kernel panic one time, and not much further. I think it has to do with installing it to sda1 to be used as hda1 when it boots on the SBC. Any ideas would be a great help thanks!
