HD Install :: Frugal install help?
Hello,
I'm hoping someone can give me some help. I have DSL running off of a USB key at the moment, but would like to get my machine booting off of a CF card.
I've tried the frugal install included with the distro, but I'm having no luck. The console opens, and asks the location to instal to (I've tried hde1, and /dev/hde1), and then closes without doing anything.
Is there a log file generated anywhere, or a way to make frugal feed back info on why it's failing?
Thanks
Cam
You can only do a frugal install to hda1.
You know, I think I read that somewhere...
maybe in the Docs.
I'm really not trying to be funny.
SU, did you mean just hda ?
I just did my first Frugal to hda7, after setting up the
partition beforehand with ext2.
I'm not getting much time to use it right now.
I really don't know Frugal very well, yet.
Maybe I just "fluked" it?
I've only used HD and Live.
Yarr, 'tis true.....I.. don't know what I'm doin'....

You are correct, you have to install frugal to the hda DRIVE only but you can install to any partition on that drive as far as I know, hda1 hda2 hda5 etc....
Take the time to understand frugal. It's a great way to run your OS.

Chris-
Thanks for clarifying that!
It can get confusing with HD and Frugal
on the same machine.
I do intend to get better aquainted with Frugal,
I did both together to "compare" and understand
them.
It helps in my mind, at least.
I saw the "closeout" thing that Cam refers to
during my install, with messages about invalid
partition.
I think I reformated and ran frugal_instal.sh
from a terminal, to enjoy its verbosity.
I was also trying to modify the Lilo part of the script
at the same time, but ended up taking Saidins
Grub path.
It's much easier.
This is the fun of Linux... and it's educational too!
Can't do that with a "point and click".
