HD Install :: to the video specialists

hi, i would like to watch videos on a low-end machine (ibm 166+, 48mb).
Xine as .dsl does not support hardware-scaling with my matrox Millenium.
Do you know a software which supports hardware scaling and which is available as .dsl? mplayer does not support it either.

Which mpeg files does xmms support? mpwg-1 or/and mpeg-2? I have not tried it out yet.
