HD Install :: It Just Removed Everything!!

Okay, I have been playing around with DSL for a couple days now. Reinstalled to the HD multiple times. The past two have been because, for some reason, when I am choosing to install things through synaptic, it all of a sudden starts removing things! I have no clue why, but it starts removing pcmcia support, x-windows, etc... No clue why, very frustrating. Reinstalling again, but, what am I doing wrong??? Thanks

So should i assume that no one else has encountered this??? The same thing almost happened to me again, I noticed in synaptic, I was going to download Abiword, clicked install, it put the triangle next to it and a couple other things, then the triangles disappeared , and at the bottom it said 64 packages to be removed, freeing 154 mb of space... I just closed out this time, but has anyone else seen this???
