HD Install :: Hd install MS-dos problems
Alright, I'm new to Linux so bear with me,
I'm trying install DSL to my HD but I still have to partition the disk, I’m trying to do it through a MS-DOS boot disk but when I try to switch from A:\ to D:\ it tells me that I have an invalided drive specification… ok what now? The HD doesn’t have any other letter assigned to it.
Secondly, when I get to the Fdisk menu should I make two primary partitions or one?
And lastly this one’s down the road a little bit but eventually I want to hook my Verizon DSL up to the computer, is this possible?
Thanks!

I don't think you can use a dos bootdisk for this - it cannot set the correct partition types. If you can boot with the DSL live CD, use cfdisk to create partitions. Remember to set the partition types, 83 for linux and 82 for swap.
Thanks, i'll give it a try!
Heres a small series of steps you can use. Note these are for a blank HD with nothing on it.
1. use fdisk to create a Primary dos partition of around 300mb
2. set the partition as active
3. FORMAT THE PARTITION (yes, use the dos format command)
4. reboot the computer with the DSL CD in.
5. continue standard install procedure
sudo cfdisk will show you what the device parition will be to enter in the dsl-hdinstall screen
Just dont change anything
