HD Install :: oops on floppy boot

I'm having an identical problem too. Tried setting pnp off and booting with failsafe mode but nothing helped. My laptop is an old AST Ascentia A-series with a Pentium 133MHz CPU and 32Mb or ram. The cd-drive is TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-2402B and it's the secondary master drive. So if someone knows hot to help it would be greatly appreciated :-)

I found a workaround for this error. In my case the error is caused by the cd-rom drive and using the command "hdc=noprobe" in the boot menu gets me to the system that is installed to the hd. Only thing that I still haven't figured out if I'm able to get the cd-rom drive to operate at all under DSL.

For installation I had to use the command "pci=off" in the cd boot menu. I was able to get the live cd system running with cd support but at the same time I lost all pcmcia functionality etc so for me it was better to not to have the cd-rom working and the system installed on the hd.

I hope this will be of any use to someone battling with a similar problem.
