HD Install :: Effect of new installation

Will installing 3.1 on top of 2.2 delete my Apache installation and web server?

My rule of thumb is to always repartition and format new... Unless, I am only upgrading or scrubbing and replacing an exisiting OS.

It's always better to start fresh in order to reduce potential problems with your master boot record.
