HD Install :: DSL HD Install Woes

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I was unable to find it.

Here is my problem:
I have acquired a Toshiba Libretto 100CT for free (lucky me eh?), and have decided to junk the M$ offerings for DSL. I'm not a total n00b to Linux, but I'm having difficulties with the HD Install.
I have managed to get DSL to boot off a USB-attached, FAT-partitioned IDE disk, containing the KNOPPIX directory from the CD image, without major problems. I have followed the instructions from the DSL site/wiki, (cfdisk to create Type 82 partition for swap {256MB}, and a type 83 partition for the rest of the disk, then run the hd-install script). When I reboot my Libretto the third time, all I get is the GRUB loader prompt and nothing else, no menu and no idea of how to boot DSL from the HD...

Helllllppp! (Please!)

Cheers,

Jon

Hi Jon!

Sounds quite similar to the problems I experienced with my frugal installation on CF card.

I still found no time to look into it but as Roberts expected it to be a GRUB Problem maybe you should check the Grub files after the installation.

OK, well thanks for that, but it doesn't seem to help me....

How do I go about getting the GRUB loader to load up my new DSL installation? Can I enter some commands into the GRUB command line to manually do it?

Come on, there's gotta be some GRUB "experts" on here!

grub-install
Maybe you can adopt some of the hints
