HD Install :: It doesnt see my cdrom

So one day me and friends decide to put a tasty version of linux on my old computers. Thats right theres more then one, they are all Pentium 2 and they all top of the line if you know what i mean. Andy was like hey i cant find the cd drive so we gave up and now were really confused and i'm really emotional and constipated, maybe from the intense action of linux or the large amount of cheese i ate. help me o so please.
hello,

- does it find your cd-rom at all during boot (in the colored boot text) ?
- is there a cdrom entry in your /etc/fstab ?
- did you try to put a cd-rom in and type "mount /dev/cdrom"
- did you enable or disable dma in your boot ?
