HD Install :: DSL / DSL-N refuses to boot from my HDD

i have a Pentium 166 with Pc chips mother board, 32 mb ram anda 32122a Seagate 2 GB hdd. Live CD runs good, but when i try to install it on a hard drive, the first part (script) goes good. Then, when i boot from hdd, i have kernel panic. i tried low level format and nothing changed. in other computer (ibm aptiva) it worked fine from hdd, with all multimedia working.
