HD Install :: HD partitions and swap

I have a fully functioning hd install and I love it.  Wlan performance is great.  I wiped the drive to hda 1 and installed the DSL to hda 1.  Do I need a swap and a hda 2 etc., with a hd install.  Working great on hda 1 alone so wanted to know if I should make another partition(s) with free space or just run as is?
Depends on how much memory you have, and what you plan to use.

But you always can't go wrong with more memory (virtual or physical) :)

Hey Buddy thanks for the reply.  I have 196 meg ram on the ole' Thinkpad and 4 gig hd.
Stability is more important to me than speed at this point, being a Linux newbie.

Doing a frugal or a debian-style hd-install?

In any case, 196 is plenty to go around for use of additional extensions and heavier applications.  Check your memory stats - if you find you're using at around 75% or more, you should consider adding a swap (this guideline is not official in any case, it's just an estimate).
