HD Install :: HD boots directly to Win98
I have 4 HDs with the same problem. I know it is not the cpu. When I try booting dsl from the cdrom/cdrw it skips directly to the original win95/98 etc. So it is not like the HD is bad...any suggestions on how to boot/install DSL to the HD? Thanks!
Could be a bios setting - set the bios boot sequence to boot the cd drive before any hard disk.
Thanks I will try that!
When I startup the computer I press all the keys that would normally take me into bios setting and it is almost like it doenst recognize what I am trying to do! It continues booting win95/98. If I boot from cd, the computer will recognize it. Can I boot from cd without a hard drive to get the dsl boot started, and then connect the hard drive? How can I get dsl to recognize that the hd is connected? I have tried using fdisk -l, cfdisk, among others all to no avail! This is really frustrating! fdisk -l doesnt do a thing it just moves down one line!! Any help would be much appreciated!!
Make sure you are using root and that you are targetting the correct device.
Since your device is already useable, you can use `ls -l /mnt/*` to see if they are readily for use by DSL.
