HD Install :: Need help with virtual hard drive mounting

I could use alot of help mounting DSL on a microsoft virtual machine hard drive. This is because on my hard disk, i have two partitoions, but one is used for XP SP2, and the other is used by HP System Recovery, so i have a virtual hard drive too. Can anyone help me?

Also, would there be any way to mount it to a SUBST drive?
