HD Install :: Saving ALL configurations
Hi!! This is the first time i'm posting here!
I am a newbie on Linux and I've already installed DSL (my first distro) and configured all my devices including my soundcard (sndconfig) and my wi-fi card (ndiswrapper) by reading other users questions and answers on this forum.
I´ve already read the "getting started" help file but I can´t save my configurations because I don't find the .filetool.lst file.
How can I Save ALL my configurations (sound card, wifi) and speedup the boot of DSL by saving the hardware detections?
I have a hard drive install.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the big post
I'm new to linux and DSL but I think this may work:
Open Emelfm on desktop
To the left of /ramdisk/home/dsl or whatever path you see when you first open it, you will see a capital H just click on the H and it will show "Hidden Files" then .filetool.list will be there as well as all the other goodies! Hey maybe you could help me! I just booted my USB Pen and it does not recognize my Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1. Any ideas how I set it up and have the settings saved? Thanks
Hi! Thank you for the hint, it was usefull indeed.
For configuring your audio card, try using sndconfig.
First of all you'll need to upgrade to GNU utils by going to Apps -> tools -> Upgrade to GNU Utils
Then:
Open ATerminal and write commands:
dsl@box:~$ sudo su
root@box:/home/dsl# apt-get update
After the process is finished, download the Debian utility package.
root@box:/home/dsl# apt-get install sndconfig
root@box:/home/dsl# sndconfig
If your card isn't detected as PnP try out the other models on the selection screen until you hear any test sound at the end of the configuration.
At time I don't know how to keep the configuration, thats why I wrote this thread.
I hope this helps you!
Sadly it wouldn't work. I thought most creative cards were supported but I got this error in sndconfig. My card is a Soundblaster audigy 5.1 SB0570. I lost the selection screen do you know how I get it back? All I get is this now:
A PCI sound card was found in your x
x system. The details are: x
x x
x Model: Creative Labs|unknown x
x device 1102:0007
The Creative Labs|unknown device x
x 1102:0007 is not supported.
Just type "sudo su" on your ATerminal to become root then type "sndconfig" to enter the configuration program again and try out different cards, if it won't work I don't know any more ways.. Better you start a thread on the correct place so experts here can help you..
Does anyone know how to save configurations??
Please help...
