HD Install :: cfdisk issue
Hey guys.
I'm a DSL newbie (and Linux newbie for that matter) and have been using the embedded version of DSL. I have an old computer that apparently can run DSL just fine and I tried to do a HDD install but for some reason, cfdisk does not detect the HDD. The error prompt is something like "CFDISK does not detect disk drive". I can't figure out how to get this done so I figured I'd come onto the forums and get some help. Any and all help is really appreciated.
type:
sudo cfdisk
at command line.
If that gives the same error then your computer does not have a Hard drive
I solved the first issue that I had.
"cfdisk /dev/sda1" is what I had to type in instead of "cfdisk /dev/hda1".
I'm having other issues (finding the KNOPPIX image or something along those lines...) but I don't think that they'll be that hard to take care of.
are you sure its /dev/sda1 ?
I think you should be using just /dev/sda , but if that works for you, then it's okay.
Your computer seems to have a scsi hd's, correct?
Maybe you should choose "install to usb-hdd" install option.
Linux detects usb sticks as scsi disks and scsi disks as scsi disks so if you install it as usb install then it would be like it's on a scsi disk, which in this case is scsi disk. I don't know what i am talking about, but try that usb-hdd install option it should work
