HD Install :: AMD 5x86
Hey guys i finally got this link and i wanna try this linux distribution, but my question is how?
i mean i have a cd, no usb, but i dont have cd boot option, so how can i install linux?
PD:i have a 4gb HD drive, my 30gb dont work with this pc
You could use a boot floppy to boot the cdrom, as one option.
yup i can do that, but after that what? i did that to install win98, with install.exe but how can i do that with DSL?
You can right click on the desktop to get a menu. Under the Tools menu there are options to install. What kind of install are you thinking about? You can do a frugal install (which copies the image to the win98 partition and installs a boot manager so you can boot to win98 or DSL). If the system is slower and you don't have a lot of ram you may want to do a regular HD install (which would require repartitioning unless you already have a partition available, one for swap would also be good). Using the frugal install you can set up a dos swap file (similar to what windows uses) if you have low ram.
well i guess i better get rid of win98 and install just dsl, 32mb of ram wont handle too much.
thats why i want to do a clean hd install, i went to download page, but cant find the frugal install, i just found some isos and the boot disk
File: dsl-3.0.1-embedded.zip 51180 KB 21/06/2006

File: dsl-3.0.1-vmx.zip 49911 KB 20/06/2006
File: dsl-3.0.1.iso 50592 KB 20/06/2006 11:58:00 p.m.
