HD Install :: Running From RAM?



I did a frugal HD install of the latest stable version (2.6?) via a boot floppy/USB image on an old, old IBM 300PL.  I chose DSL because of its size, but after HD install it seems to be running out of the RAM (64mb) instead of the 6gb HD partition.  I've got it swapping to that HD, but that doesn't help.  I'm probably being very obtuse; I can't figure this out.
