HD Install :: how to install if my pc can not boot from CD???
I have got a computer that can not boot from a Cd, just from a floopy.
But the CD-rom works well in both Windows95 and MS-DOS.
I can't install DSL using network or modem because I don't have.
What can I do???
Thanks a lot!
If your computer has a cdrom but only boots from floppy A or C; then you need a boot disk..this is boot.img and can be found at the merror where you download the dsl iso...you will need rawrite to copy the image...I used rawrite3..you do this from the dos prompt...so download boot.img and rawrite... put in same folder or on c...reboot to dos..go to folder where files are...rawrite to floppy...put this boot disk in the machine and turn on...put dsl disk in and if you have enough ram it will just load...if not hit f2 at the boot prompt for options...hope this helps...I am anew to linux and this distro...but have dsl installed to hd and running to type this. I installed on 400meg drive with 128meg swap file the machine has 48 meg ram..it runs slow but has functionality...hope you have good luck
