HD Install :: Grub-Splash?!

Ahoi!

Simple question: I would like to install a grub-splash. I did, but I failed.
That's what I've done: copy an xmp.gz file to /boot/grub. Then I've added a comment to the grub/menu.lst:

right after the timeout line
splashimage=(hd0,5)/boot/grub/filename.xmp.gz

Is this possible in DSL? Typical linux newbie question...

Any hints and tips?

I was hoping someone else would respond....  I will not be much help to you, but I would like to know if you ever get this working....

I was doing some reading at GRUB Splash Image Howto.  It looks like it may depend a lot on what version of GRUB DSL is using. I don't know off the top of my head. You may want to search the forums to see if anything is mentioned.

Keep trying... post what you discover

Good luck

I think it also requires the "splash" application, but not sure.  The knoppix-autoconfig boot script makes mention of it, anyway.  Since it's run during boot, you may need to remaster KNOPPIX to include it.
Thx! Needle in the haystack for a linux newbie. But I 'll give it a try and post the results of my efforts.

Have a good time

Where does the TUX splash logo live when you do a hard disk install?  (I know where logo.16 is on the cd-rom/live boot but it doesn't apper to be there in a hard disk install!)
