HD Install :: hd install/xfree86/usb mouse issues

Ok, I couldn't get xfree86 to work on my frugal install, so I did a full HD install. Well, I followed all the instructions and everything in the .info file, and when it reboots, it doesn't read my usb mouse or my wacom tablet/mouse. During boot it recognizes them, but they are non-functional when everything loads.
Anyone know how to help me?
