HD Install :: Suggestions for config change for Toshiba T2135CS?

I had posted previously about not being able to find "mklilioboot". I finally got LILO to install. I'm installing on a Toshiba T2135CS with 24Meg of memory and 2-250 Meg harddrive partitions. It also has a pretty poor video card, 256 color resolution.

The "dsl-hdinstall" prompts to run the LILO install were not showing up. The scripts output would print out, but was not visible in the Xterminal. I tried setting resolutions down to 640x480 with 256 colors, but DSL seemed to come up in 1024x768 mode.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can configure DSL 2.0 to work better with:
- Limited memory
- Low res/colors video card
