HD Install :: noob question, make /home persist

hi, frugal install; lilo boot options 'home=hda3 etc=hda3 opt=hda3' yet there is still a symlink for 'home'. I Would like ramdisk to 'GO AWAY'.. sorry its really ticking me off. please advise. thanks
