USB booting :: Save Dwnloaded Applications
Hi all,
First I would like to say how happy I am at how relatively easy DSL is to get to boot on only a 64mb Key (after I tried a few other mini-distros). I used WinImage, on an XP machine, to install the bootusb-0.8.img to my key, then just coppied all of the Live CD's files over to the key too.
I have a question that I am sure someone with knoledge of the file system will be able to help me with.
I connect to the net and install applications and start some daemons but after I reboot they are all lost
I used the config backup built into myDSL and the DSL Cheatcode at boot to see if that would do the trick but it didn't help
I'm guessing that the apps and stuff are saved on the ramdrive?
I suppose my real question is where are applications saved and can I like, edit a file or something to have them saved on mnt/sda1?
Sorry about the long post and 20 questions, and thanks in advance
usul-
I don't know if you ever got your question answered-
If you create a directory named "optional" on your USB key, and copy the packages there, I believe that they will be avialble under the menu item "my dsl-> install optional extensions".

Many thanks Msuho
That is exactly what I was after
Thanks to your post I managed to build myself a little DSL Key with ZSNES and a fist full of games that I can boot whenever, and have a quick play of, and all on a 64Mb USB Key
GREAT
Thanks again
