Apps :: Old with MyDSL or New with Apt?
My computer is a Pentium 2 450MHz, 64MB RAM, old 4MB video card and 6GB HDD. Anyways, should I just use the older versions that come with DSL or the newer ones? Did the designers purposefully not proceed with upgrading the programs, fearing slowness? Thanks.
This thread should give you a heads-up on the status of "code bloat" ..

Great info. in that link ke4nt1. One of the reasons I chose DSL to begin with is that I could run it on any of the computers I own (my oldest is 233mhz) and although the newer kernel and apps could be nice, I am more into efficiency and being able to use older hardware than I am into flashy features.
So I assume using the MyDsL packages would be easier, less buggy, and faster than the newer packages, right?
I really like the different extensions (.uci .dsl .tar.gz), to me they are very easy and have been put together and tested by those who use dsl. Are you using dsl on a frugal install, hd install or live-cd? I especially like the extensions using the frugal install or with the live-cd. That being said there are occasions that using apt may be needed.
