hey, "i went to bed too late", just thought I'd mention a great floppy boot image you might find useful if you can't boot from CD and can from floppy. Its called smb.bin (smart boot manager). Basically, you write it to a floppy using dd or rawrite, boot it, then it lets you select boot from CD, HD, Floppy. So you can boot from CD as normal. It works much better than using a custom boot disc.....they are obselete with this baby. I'm surprised it took me so long to find it, and that others dont know about it, its been around since 2000 I think. If you want it, I found it on a Debian install disc, so you should be able to google it.
I use smart boot manager too, but have a word of caution for people with really old hardware.

smb does not like older CDROM drives.

If you have a DSL boot floppy, you can copy the \KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX file over to your C:\ drive and still boot up even though your CDROM drive is unsupported.

You can't do this with smb

Otherwise, it's a great program and is how I boot up my triple-boot P3 machine.
