Apps :: how to update the built-in Firefox

hi all,
i m new here, i got a prob: i run damn small linux from my CD but when i use Firefox, it always grabs the 0.8 version for me. Is there a way i can tweak it so that i can install the latest version of Firefox by default ?

No.

But you can download the Firefox 0.93 dsl file if you want a newer version.

Also, you can install apt (Enable apt, or dpkg-restore, or Get Synaptic).
Once you have installed apt you should find the recent version of firefox in the Debian unstable sources.

You will have to edit your sources.list file and replace the word "stable" with "unstable" in the line that doesn't begin with a "#" character.

After installing apt, open an xterminal and type:

sudo scite /etc/apt/sources.list

then make your changes and save it. Then type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox
exit

There is however, one snag, I just found out that i cannot install J2RE.....it gave me an error telling me there's not enuf space in the ramdisk....
u know, i m running from a CD.
Got any ideas how to solve that? I can't play all my fav web games in yahoo without java

Try installing the jre UCI extension instead of the downloaded plugin or the TAR.GZ extension.

The UCI extension should use very little RAM because it is mounted and run from your CD.
