Sounds like a usb block device... _not_ sure if DSL even uses that, maybe you'll have to play around with sdXx

Yes, I tried "fromhd=/dev/uba", but without success. I'm not skilled enough in Linux to get further at this point in time. I give up.

I have tried PuppyLinux and gotten similar problems, so I will have to step up to some larger distribution. My computer works with e.g. Slax and Ubuntu. A pity though as I like DSL...

I also got the error message "trying to kill init!" (something like that). The problem was solved by removing some RAM that I just had put in, probably it was something wrong with it. I had got it from a friend's old computer.
