Other Help Topics :: how to burn from nero?

Q:1
i am using linux for the first time. i downloaded the dsl image from a mirror. there is no problem with the download as i verified it using md5summer.
i use nero for burning cds and i used it to burn the image onto a cd. when i opened it using windows explorer i saw  folders(viz. boot, knoppix, lost+found). i also changed my BIOS settings to boot from CD but still i can't use the CD. Windows starts automatically. should i burn the image to another cd?
Q:2
what is emulation?  i was asked to select the type of emulation in nero. but i chose to not select expert settings and let it be as it is

- Remember that a ISO image can't be copied directly to CD as other files. The option like to "Create a new data CD" or "Create a CD from an ISO image" must be set before burnning the CD.
- Some computers have difficulty booting from a cd-rw disk. If you have problems, it is suggested that you burn DSL to a CD-R disk instead of a CD-RW disk.

Hello splash!

Just click on the "Recording" in the top line and choose "Burn image". Then just select the iso-file you want to burn and start burning. If you are doing this in Windows I think "Recording" is called "File" and is situated at the top left otherwise it's the same. Emulation is a trial to see if it works (I think). Hope it works!

has anyone here really used nero?
should i make only a data CD or aCD-ROM(BOOT)?
i have made data CDs but only 1 bootable CD which has gone wrong as mentioned earlier.

Hi again splash!

Yes, I have used nero burning rom many times but it was quite a while ago I used it in a Windows environment. I guess you are using it in a Windows environment. As I recall there pops up a window that gives you a choice between different kinds of burning options. As mentioned  by piccolo you should choose something like data cd or similar. Then continue and when you only have the main window of the program visible, choose "File" and in the dropdown menu "Burn image" will appear, click on that one. After that you can choose the image to burn. This was years ago with version 5 so it may have changed. I hope this can be of any help.

Have fun,
