User Feedback :: 0.7.3 not opening apps

The details on your computer's processor, memory, other OS's installed and running on the hard drive might be helpful. I have found some machines are not
able to run the DSL 2.4 kernel very well, expecially if no swap partition and limited
memory are the case. Such boxes run the 2.2 kernel nicely, such as found in
Mandrake 7.2 (hard drive install).
Right now I am using 128 MB ram, 200 MMX processor, and DSL does everything
ok. On the hard drive, I have Mandrake 7.2, and it really flies along on this machine. But it only has Opera 6.03, whereas DSL (my remaster) has Firefox 0.8.

I have also had problems with machines that have a hard drive that is trying to fail,
and machines that are overloaded with cards, hard drives, etc. for the power supply. Your machine may need to go into the shop to see if any of the hardware is giving out. In those cases, my OS's would act up and make me wonder what was going on...  Had to replace power supplies, etc.; on AT powered machines, the power cables plugging into the motherboard were burning, several contacts showing evidence of that.

Lots of interesting things to consider when an OS does not work as expected, especially if it changes from one day to the next.

My big problem is that i'm trying to reduce the screen resolution on my laptop. it's at the default 1024x768 but i need 800x600 so i can see the bottom. i've tried xsetup.sh but nothing happens when i rebooted. I'm on an AMD K6 380 with 64MB RAM and 4GB HD. I recently erased 98SE prior to installing DSL.
Also, forgive me for asking the question in this thread but i've tried many times unsuccessfully to register here. It says my account is activated but when i log in it says no such member.

You'll want to right click on the desktop and go to System>X Setup

That should allow you to choose your screen resolution. You'll probably need a reboot to set it, though I dont remember.

As for your registration problem, everything is case sensitive, so make sure you're using the same that you signed up with.

Hm...well, for some reason, I'm able to open up stuff (cpanel, paint, etc.) right after the destop is done loading.

Donttpanic:  I see the icons on my desktop and I don't see any enable icons button.

milkshaw: like I didn't say, I can't open up a term.  Now I can't do anything in the right click menu...like I said, though...they work a little bit when I first start DSL then they poop out.

-str1d3r ???

I would probably back up whatever I wanted saved and reinstall DSL from the liveCD. Sounds like something important is messed up.
