User Feedback :: Hard drive Viewing

my d: drive is shared with both r & w permissions.
Here's my win shares

I have Win FW with shares enabled from my subnet.

Thanks

Try this:

On your Windows PC, open up a "Command Prompt" window and type in "ipconfig" and press enter.

Write down your ip address.

Now go into DSL and try connecting to the computer. Manually "Add" a machine but use the ip address for the computer location instead of the computer name.

Good Luck.

cbagger01,

I tried and LinNeighborhood kept saying 'Query error'.
I tried with the ip as comp name & workgroup as workgroup.
....     just ip as comp name
....     ip as comp name & workgroup as workgroup & ip as ip
....     all other combos

Network info:

My laptop is behind a router connected to the net.

ip address:  192.168.1.101
subnet    :   255.255.255.0
gateway  :   192.168.1.1

Thanks to Everyone so far

OK,

I don't know why samba / LinNeighborhood isn't working, but this process DOES work:

1) Get your ip address using the method defined above.
2) In WinXP go to Control Panel -> Performance & Maintenance -> System.  Click on the "Computer Name" tab and write down your workgroup name.
3) Go into DSL. From the fluxbox menu, choose Apps -> Net -> smbclient
2) Enter your workgroup, username, password and share name (Example share name: "SharedDocs" with no spaces) and enter the ip address for the "machine" name.
3) Use smbclient like an ftp program for file transfers.

I am sure that LinNeighborhood can work too. I just haven't tried it yet.
